Chromate conversion produces a thin film of Chromium compounds on the surface of aluminum parts. This Finish prevents the aluminum from corroding and enhances the bond surface for paint and lacquer coatings. The Chem. film is electrically conductive and is used extensively in the Electronics industry to prevent aluminum corrosion.
Chromate conversion coatings can be produced in either a clear or gold finish. The gold finish can vary in shade due to alloy selection as well as heat annealing and welded surfaces.
